When I am creating with glass I am at peace. At the end of each day,
as I leave my studio, I breathe deeply knowing I have been true to me.
In the process, something beautiful was created. The artist's life is a good one.

About Annie Thomas-Burke
I can't remember a time in my life when creating in one form or
another wasn't a part of my life. To not create meant that I was
half the person I should be. Those interests include gardening, writing,
watercolor, acrylic, pastels, mosaic, decoupage, faux wall treaments and
home improvement of any kind. If I was uneducated about a process,
I found that information on line, in books and by nicely asking
and then asking some more. The need to create was inside me at birth just
as much as my red hair and green eyes were. And so... I do.
This website showcases my works both for sale and those I have
given away to loved ones and friends. For inspiration, to please,
to help you along on a journey of discovery of a new way to Mosaic.
A "painting with glass" technique mastered and taught by my friend
Carol Shelkin. I, her student, find this style of mosaic art to be
enchantingly joyful. Each small piece of glass is chosen for its
value and tone in order to create a painting with stained glass.
As a child and well, even as an adult, I enjoyed puzzles. I remember
massive puzzles set up on a card table in our living room. The entire
family would participate in putting it together until completion.
I could easily spend the day doing just that. I would have never
guessed that it would someday lead me to an art form very puzzle
like in its technique. But I have. There is nothing like seeing
stained glass mosaic art in person. Pictures are highly inadequate
for properly seeing the way stained glass glistens in the light.
